Davis, who took over as head coach from Roy Williams, is facing a growing pain in his first season of shooting shots.
When asked about leadership inside the locker room, the head teacher of Tar Heels is struggling to find someone to board.
“To be a good team, you have to have leadership,” Davis said. “There has to be someone outside of me, outside of the coaching staff who has a voice in the locker room – who is in the middle of the players, who connects us. I’ve never seen a better team that isn’t there. Right now, we have nothing. This is something that needs to change. , it has to change and change.
Unlisted Tar Heels has 14 games left before the ACC tournament. Being third in the league, North Carolina still have all their games against the No. 1 seed. 6 Duke.
The Blue Devils are the only group left on their list. (Note: Duke was disappointed with Florida State unelected in OT Tuesday.)
So, what needs to be fixed? Davis gave a vague reflection.
“Before we can talk about system change, there needs to be a change in effort,” he said. “There has to be a change in competition and ambition. I told them tonight, ‘The game has changed, but you have to change.’
“I told them, ‘There is no way out of this. The only way you can get a chance out of this is to fight. You have to draw a line in the sand …”
The Tar Heels are on their way to meet Wake Forest, who is currently undefeated at home. As Marichi Madness approaches, UNC needs to take action and find out who it is and win against the Deacons Demon may be the first step forward.
